A SPECIAL PROMOTION TO SUPPORT THE MAYFLY PROJECT: THE SARABELLA FISHING AND DOWN BY THE RIVER ROD

April Archer of SaraBella Fishing and Andrew Weiner, author of Down By the River: A Family Fishing Story, have announced a collaboration to help support The Mayfly Project

SaraBella will create a limited edition rod celebrating The Mayfly Project, whose mission is to support children in foster care through fly fishing and introduce them to their local water ecosystems, with a hope that connecting them to a rewarding hobby will provide an opportunity for foster children to have fun, feel supported, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.   The Mayfly Project has lead over 500 children in foster care to the sport of fly fishing since 2016. They will be mentoring in 26 states in 2020. “We are so honored to have the support of Andrew Weiner and April Archer! This is a beautiful rod and we can’t wait to share it.”

The limited edition rod will feature spot art from Down By the River and The Mayfly Project’s logo. Purchase of a rod will include a free signed copy of Down By the River, and proceeds will support The Mayfly Project’s work with foster children. The rod will be unveiled at the Fly Fishing Show in Denver, CO on January 5, 2020.

SaraBella Fishing produces smart, beautiful fly fishing rods that perform with excellence and make a positive impact. The company is woman owned and Colorado based, and has a history of support for fly-fishing oriented non-profits, including The Mayfly Project, Casting for Recovery, and Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. SaraBella was created because April Archer noticed a lack of fly fishing products for women, as well as a lack of respect given to women for their skills, passion and love of the sport. Now SaraBella produces rods for anglers of all kinds.  “We welcome all anglers, regardless of race, gender, sexual identity, religion, ethnicity, number of fish caught, etc. We offer choices, we accept people for who they are, and we believe in exploration, conservation, healing, and joy through outdoor adventure.” As a mom and believer that outdoor adventure can heal, April states, “Together, we can ignite support for The Mayfly Project and inspire more kids to connect with fly fishing.”

  • Get a custom SaraBella fly rod, a signed Down By the River book, AND SaraBella will give $200 back to The Mayfly Project!

Andrew Weiner is a longtime publishing professional and avid fly angler. His book Down By the River celebrates a family’s shared tradition of time spent together fly fishing, across generations. Published in 2018, it won the 2018 IFTD/AFFTA Award for Best New Entertainment/Education Product, as well as being named a Fly Fusion Magazine Editor’s Choice.

“I’m so excited to be working with April Archer to create a special rod that anglers will cherish and that will support the work of a great organization like The Mayfly Project,” said Andrew Weiner. “The publication of my book has given me the opportunity to broaden my support of fine non-profits, and I hope to do more in the future.”
